  1. What do I need to know before bringing my pet to your facility?

All pets at Central Pet must be healthy and free of any contagious illnesses.  If your pet is exhibiting any symptoms that may suggest illness such as sneezing, coughing, wheezing, runny eyes or nose, vomiting, or diarrhea, please do not bring your pet to Central Pet.  We are happy to refer ill dogs and cats to local veterinarians that board pets.

  1. What Vaccinations do you require?

Required for Dogs: Rabies (3yr. or 1yr.), DHPP (1yr. or 3yr.), and Bordetella (6 months or 1yr.)

Required for Cats: Rabies, FVRCP (both 1 year vaccines).

Please bring a copy of vaccinations with you, or have your vet fax them to us at 520-398-8662 prior to bringing your pet in for boarding, daycare, or grooming.

  1. What is Bordetella?

The Bordetella vaccine is given to aid in the prevention of "Kennel Cough", a canine upper respiratory infection.  It can be given intra-nasal or as an injected vaccine.  Kennel Cough is airborne, and transmitted much the same way human colds are transmitted.  Just as humans are more likely to get a cold while traveling on an airplane or in an enclosed office space, dogs are more likely to contract kennel cough in an indoor environment where there are other dogs present.  Life threatening cases of Kennel Cough are extremely rare and a vast majority of dogs that acquire the infection will recover on their own with no medication, but may sometimes be prescribed antibiotics.  By requiring the Bordetella vaccine for our canine guests greatly decreases any chance of kennel cough being present in our facility.

  1. Does my pet need to be spayed or neutered?

In order to ensure the safety and happiness of all of our daycare and group play boarding guests, we require that all dogs over the age of six months must be spayed or neutered.  Dogs that are not spayed or neutered are welcome at Central Pet for private boarding or private daycare.

  1. Should I provide my own food for my pet?

You are not required to bring your own food, but it is recommended as changing food can cause severe upset stomach.  However, if you prefer not to bring your own we do have kennel food we will feed your pet at no additional cost.

  1. Should I bring my pet’s bedding? Toys? Treats?

Central Pet provides each overnight guest with comfortable elevated bedding, but you are welcome to bring your pet’s own bedding and/or blankets if you feel it will make them more comfortable. You are also welcome to bring your own treats and any toys your dog may enjoy.

  1. Do you have indoor/outdoor kennels?

Yes.  We have indoor/outdoor kennels in our Luxury Suites. Each indoor unit is temperature-controlled year round with full air conditioning and heating. A dog door opens to their private covered patio to enjoy exercise and fresh air. The dog door allows guests to go in and outside as they please. Our canine guest staying in our Pups & Petites and Top Dog Suites will be escorted outside for exercise, potty breaks and playtime every day.

  1. Can my pets stay together in one room?

Yes.  Guests from the same family are able to share one of our units at a discounted rate for the additional pet.  Keep in mind only pets from the same species (canine or feline) are allowed to share a unit.

  1. Can you give my pet his/her medication?

Yes.  We will administer medications in liquid or pill form at no additional cost.  We will also administer injectable medications at a small additional charge.

  1. What kind of exercise will my dog get?

-Guests staying in Pups & Petites can be put in our small dog daycare during their stay if they enjoy being with other dogs.  If not, they will be taken out for private walks and potty breaks by one of our staff members.

-Top Dog guests can be escorted to one our various play yards for private play or group play at an additional fee.

-Our Luxury Suite guests have daily playtime in our grassy areas (private or with a friend.)

-Our feline guests will take turns throughout the day playing in our built in cat jungle gym and perches.

  1. What happens if my pet becomes sick or injured?

During check-in, we will take down your veterinarian information and if available, emergency contact information. If in our judgment, your dog requires medical care we will first contact your dog’s listed veterinarian or animal hospital.  Should your veterinarian be unavailable and your pet is in need of emergency medical attention, they will be taken to the emergency pet hospital in Tucson.  You of course will also be contacted.

  1. Can I take a tour of your facility before leaving my pet?

Of Course! We would love to show you how pet-ticular we are about providing the best care and cleanest environment for our guests, and a peace of mind for their owners!  Feel free to stop by during our regular business hours for a tour.
